At American Jeansstore, we are conscious of the fact that the garments produced by the fashion industry come with a quite a social and environmental cost. This is why we are very careful in how we select our suppliers and who we choose to partner with.
Within our collections, we have carefully put together a portfolio of different styles and designs for you, which include the use of organic, innovative and recycled fabrics:
Organic cotton
Organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Organic farming practices protect biodiversity and do not disrupt the ecosystems and habitats of plants and animals. It also provides a better working environment for the local farmers.
Did you spot the the ‘Better Cotton’ logo on one of our styles? It means that this brand partners with the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) to improve cotton farming globally. Through BCI and its partners, farmers receive training on how to use water efficiently, care for the health of the soil and natural habitats and reduce of the most harmful chemicals. BCI farmers also commit to decent work principles, conditions that support workers’ safety and wellbeing.
Recycled polyester
Recycled polyester is a synthetic material made from waste items like plastic bottles, used polyester garments and fabric left-over from manufacturing. Recycling polyester saves natural recources and reduces the amount of textile waste, making it a more sustainable fibre option.
Recycled nylon
Recycled nylon -also known as polyamide- is a synthetic material commonly sourced from post-industrial waste fibres. Recycling nylon fibres saves natural resources and reduces the amount of texile waste.
Recycled wool
Instead of shipping wool to disposal at landfills, recycling wool helps reduce the amount of textile waste. The recycled wool is reborn and later refashioned into new clothes.
TENCELL™ lyocell fibres
TENCEL™ branded lyocell fibres are high-quality, cellulose fibres made from wood pulp, derived from sustainable forestry and is produced in a very eco-friendly way. TENCEL™ lyocell fibres are produced in a 99% closed-loop system where water and solvents are recycled, limiting the waste of natural recources and the use of solvents in production.
At American Jeansstore, we are on a journey to helping transform the fashion industry into a more sustainable one, one that’s better for our future generations.
